Our company’s story began with the purchasing of Municipal Spraying and Contracting back in 1974, followed by the acquisition of New Brunswick-based Dexter Construction two years later – a company that became the true workhorse of the organization shortly after. Thanks to its role in developing critical infrastructure in Halifax Regional Municipality and surrounding areas, Dexter-Municipal was soon recognized as the preeminent heavy civil contractor in the region. A range of superior capabilities, including highway and bridge construction, site development, asphalt paving, quarry services and hauling gave the Municipal Group its well-earned reputation for excellence in the roadbuilding industry.
Over the years, we have strategically expanded into related industries (environmental services, logistics) while growing our geographic reach and team. Along the way, we have remained steadfastly focused on our guiding principles and core values of Vision, Integrity, and Stability.
