Commercial Fleet Training Manager

Bedford , Nova Scotia

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Equipment Training, the successful candidate for the role of Commercial Fleet Training Manager will be based from our corporate headquarters in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

 

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Firm understanding of the Motor Vehicle Act
  • Firm understanding of regulations and legislation (Federal, Provincial, and local)
  • 5 + years in the commercial trucking industry
  • Possess a valid class 1 driver’s license
  • Project management ability
  • Proven experience in group facilitation and project management

 

Technical and other Skills

  • Oral and written communications skills
  • Computer literacy with a strength in MS Office products
  • Interpersonal relations skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow and enforce safety rules and utilize appropriate safety equipment

 

Duties:

  • Develop, maintain, and update standard procedures for training and evaluation of drivers
  • Perform evaluations on commercial drivers to assess professional skills
  • Train and manage commercial vehicle driver trainers, evaluators, and mentors
  • Assist with accident investigations as required
  • Standardize tools used by commercial drivers (e.g. pre-trip inspection forms)
  • Standardize the commercial driver’s handbook
  • Participate in snow operations training
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Environmental services experience
  • Courier and transportation experience
  • Snow plow experience
  • Heavy equipment experience
