Corey has been a dedicated professional in the commercial driving industry for 18 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role at the Dexter Institute Private Career College.
Corey’s career began as a Volunteer Firefighter with Halifax Regional Fire, where he received in-house training to obtain his Class 3 License. From there, he transitioned into the waste industry, initially driving waste trucks before being hired a few years later as a Driver Trainer to support the launch of REgroup’s residential collection.
Today, Corey completes the majority of driver evaluations for the environmental division for the Municipal Group of Companies. During training season, he also teaches first aid—something he is deeply passionate about, which is reflected in his engaging and thorough presentations. Corey recently completed his first season as an Instructor with the College and is excited to continue supporting students in the years to come.
Corey enjoys working closely with students, helping them gain confidence and overcome challenges as they begin their careers. His advice for anyone considering a career in commercial driving is straightforward:
“Make the investment in yourself right now. There are many different paths in the commercial driving industry, and the key is to find the path that suits you the best. The great thing about the Dexter Institute and the Municipal Group is we provide the opportunity to explore different paths.”
